Types of semi-precious stones inlaid
Royal Mughal inkwell
Available
This inkwell and pen holder is an exact scale replica of the inkwell currently on display in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK. The original was made mostly of Italian hard stones inlaid in Makrana Marble. It was bought for £19 by the Museum of Ornamental Art from the Great Exhibition of 1851 as an example of modern work from the city of Agra. We have updated the look of the design by adding some of our own semi-precious stones and flowers. The inkwell has three chambers to hold ink and two longitudinal slots to hold quilled pens possibly made of exotic bird feathers. This is indeed the most extravagant writing equipment holder in the world.
